Role: What is a fractional time general counsel?
The outsourced, fractional time general counsel role is a unique offering and allows clients that don’t have the need or the budget to hire a business attorney on a full time basis to receive the personal attention, prestige and cost savings often associated with having an in-house attorney. As an outsourced general counsel, Josh Stone would get to know your team and try to spend significant time on site. Josh's background and experience is consistent with the image that your business seeks to present to its investors, clients and regulators. In this regard, having a general counsel can help grow your brand.
Josh is not connected to a full service law firm, and therefore he can serve as your legal quarterback and seek out the right counsel or other professional for each project.
We are seeking a very limited number of GC roles (which can be counted on one hand). Therefore, it is essential that there is a good fit on both sides.
Location: South Florida (based in Miami) or remote.

Josh Stone has over 20 years of experience practicing corporate law, over 15 of which were spent focusing primarily on private funds. Josh’s experience includes time spent at market leading law firms in New York, as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of a multi-billion-dollar investment fund manager and as a partner at a large Miami law firm. He now serves as the principal of FundsLawyer PLLC. He currently holds Leadership roles with The Hedge Fund Association and The Miami Finance Forum.

Josh is extremely accessible, with calls routed to his cell phone and not to a secretary or an answering service. He does not seek a high volume of work, so as not to get over-committed.
